Lyle Tuttle - South African Tattoo History from the Boer War (1898) to the Start of World War One (1914)

A digital presentation, open to the public. Lyle Tuttle is one the worlds most famous tattooists and historians and has personally researched his files and documents of the San Francisco Tattoo Museum over the last few months to prepare an exclusive presentation on early
South African Tattoo History for the fans attending Southern Ink Xposure.

During this period  three Englishman,  Tom Riley, George Burchett and
Prof. J.T. Clark were tattooing in South Africa, to find out more, join us at the show.

say, "That tattoo machines are his daytime passion."  He is well known
for  his innovative frame design, such as Start Struck, the Frisco Flyer,
the 4X4 and Lyle Tuttle circle frame.

CERTIFICATE of COMPLETION (suitable for framing) is awarded for
each seminar that will count for advanced education credits with most
Health Departments.   Each seminar is accompanied with  a digital slide
show and hands on workshop.

Bring  your tattoo machines  for identification, appraisal and repair. I
buy, sell and/or trade antique and unique tattoo machines for the Tattoo
Art Museum collection. Donations in your name will be except, machines,
flash and other  tattoo memoriblia. Dedicated to the art, that art history
forgot.

SEMINAR #1 - The care,  maintances, repair and  TUNING
Saturday Jan 24th 6PM

 Your tattoo machines should be, but second nature to you and serve you faithfully day
after day.   In this way you can apply 100% of  your shop time to
tattooing. This is a complete study of all  component parts of  the tattoo
machine and their interaction and relationship.  Demonstrations of cutting
springs; making contact points;   building needle bars with bent eyes;
choose of  sizes and configuration  for different tattooing  effects;
needle soldering.   Tips on how to find the materials that you'll  need
to   build,  replace and   maintain the equipment. . Good tattooing is
based  on your machines and of cause the  hands that tuned it.

SEMINAR #2 - DESIGN and BUILD  your own  tattooing  machines  from  start
to  finish:

Sunday Jan 25th 2PM
Cast, fabricated or  bent frames,  even   "frame less."
COILS;   How  wire and core  size effect   the  finished  machine
operation, outliner or shader?  Build  you own coil winder from parts you
could have stole from your mother. Short cuts in building all the parts
needed;  the  best   raw materials  and where to find them. Learn the JOYS
of building your own  Tattoo Machines  and accessories; power supplies,
tubes and needle bars, etc.,etc. everything needed in plying your trade.
Know the real joys of self-sufficiency.  
$150.00 US- approx. 2 hours.
